Pickwick

Brand of sportswear for children and teenagers. The company was founded in 1996 by two very young business partners who still hold all the capital: Diego Barbaresi, the designer, and Marco Nicolini, the managing director. Over the years the company has taken the name Global Industry. At present it has licensed its brand to three different firms: the Pickwick Junior range of clothing to Supergin in Bologna; its range of shoes to the footwear manufacturer Elisabet di Monte Urano (in Ascoli Piceno) and its range of stationery to Cartorama of Verona. They are mainly distributed nationally, with 750 customers, 10 franchise stores, and 6 of their own stores, including one in Corso Como in Milan and one in Via Tomacelli in Rome. They have increased their production to include men’s and women’s ranges, accessories, sweatshirts, T-“shirts, backpacks, key-holders, belts and hats, bringing in a turnover of 30 million euros in 2002. In 2003 they planned to expand to the Spanish and French markets.
