Pecoraro
Maurizio (1962). Italian designer. Born in Palermo, he took an interest in fashion from an early age. He moves to Paris when still very young, working there with Thierry Mugler. Once back in Italy he joined Gianni Versace’s creative team, and in 1989 he took on the creative direction of the Alma range. He launched his label in September 1998 with a collection of timeless elegance and skilled tailoring. In January 2003 he presented one of his collections at the AltaRomaAlta Moda fashion week, and received the award from the city’s mayor as the best young Italian designer, with a talent for reinventing haute couture in a modern way.
&Quad;2002, September. The Sicilian designer’s Spring-Summer collection paid homage to the art of the 1960s.
&Quad;Pecoraro masterminded the relaunch of Vionnet, the designer label belonging to the Watelin de Lummen family and founded in 1912. The designer signed a two-year contract. Vionnet was shown on the runways of the Parisian haute couture fashion week and was sponsored by Villa Moda, the Kuwaiti luxury fashion emporium opened by the Sheik Majed al Sabah.
