Big American ready-to-wear manufacturer based in Atlanta, Georgia, that produces clothes and accessories for men and teenage boys (70%) and women (30%), distributing them through their own brands (Oxford Shirt, Oxford Slacks, and Oxford Dresses) and under license for Oscar De La Renta, Polo, Jane Barnes, and Arcade. The company has nearly 40 factories in the southern USA, Central America, and Europe.
&Quad;1999, November. Phillips-Van Heusen closed a deal for the sale of all Izod Club Golf’s trading activities to the Atlanta group. The Izod ranges for men, women and children continue to be distributed in the same specialist shops.
&Quad;Oxford Industries acquired the license to produce and distribute DKNY Kids, a Donna Karan’s range for children and babies, previously produced by Esprit de Corp in San Francisco. In December 2000 Tommy Hilfiger entrusted the production of its women’s golf collection range to Oxford. Their 2002 financial results were not positive, reporting a 16.6% decrease in sales and a 31.1% drop in profits, though they showed signs of recovery in the latter part of the year.
&Quad;Oxford Industries completed the acquisition of Viewpoint International, owner of the Tommy Bahama brand, which produces sportswear, men’s and women’s swimwear and home furnishings. The final deal, announced in April 2003, amounted to 325 million dollars in cash and shares.
