Nederlands Kostuummuseum

The Hague. Municipal museum dedicated to fashion. It was opened in 1952 to bring together three existing collections: that of the Museum of Applied Arts, the foundation of the Dutch Museum of Fashion, and the collection of the actor Cruys Voorberg, which was acquired by the city in 1951. It owns more than 40,000 pieces dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries. French haute couture designers are well represented. From 1967 onwards, it has collected contemporary Dutch clothing.
