Orfi
New York ready-to-wear label. Orfi stands for Organization for Returning Fashion Interest, which, contrary to how it sounds, is not a social organization, but a designer label run by three New York designers: Donald Hearn, Scott Kruger, and Ana Gonzales. Their philosophy is to create urban streetwear clothing. In 1995 Kruger and Hearn, both recent graduates in Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, decided to open a sort of experimental art studio on New York’s 14th Street. Alongside their passion for art, the two designers cultivated an interest in fashion, acting as consultants to various fashion designers. In 1998 they were joined by Ana Gonzales, when the group stepped fulltime into fashion by founding Orfi. Their first men’s collection mixed formal and streetwear. They later produced a women’s range inspired by the same spirit.
