National Chamber of Italian Fashion

Established in 1958, this is a nonprofit association which disciplines, coordinates, protects, and promotes the image and development of the Italian fashion industry. A reorganization of its structure has recently caused a clean division between the nonprofit activities, which continue to be coordinated by the association, and the service activities for associates and non-associates, which are managed by the new Fashion Chamber. The Chamber has 160 associates among the various segments of the textile and clothing sectors, and has two offices. The one in Milan covers the organization of events and the calendar for presentation of the collections. The office in Rome looks after relationships with the various institutions and organizes the Fashion Week in Rome. The Chamber organizes four annual prêt-à-porter events: Milano Collezioni Donna (February-March and September-October), and Milano Collezioni Uomo (January and June-July). The two events held in Rome are instead linked to haute couture. Currently, Mario Boselli is President, and Beppe Modenese Honorary President.
&Quad;2002, April. The calendar and rules of the presentation of the collections were laid down to avoid the delays and problems that resulted during previous presentations. It is essential that all those brands that do not have their own location show in Milan Fair (though, in the future, they will be moved to the City of Fashion which is due to be built in the Garibaldi-Varesine district). The timetable (9.30am-7.30pm) and the daily number of shows (10 shows a day for 10 days, but for 9 days from the second semester 2003) have been fixed. The Chamber (usually) decides to keep a fixed schedule and to give preference to the requests of those maisons that are associate members.
