Morlotti

Dominique (1950). French designer. Born in Paris, he entered the world of fashion after studying Classics at university. In 1975 he trained with Ted Lapidus before moving to work as assistant to Popy Moreni. In the 1980s he was in charge of menswear at both Balmain and Dior. In 1990 he set up on his own, and two years later Lanvin took him on as Artistic Director. Since 1996, he has been principly occupied with men’s prêt-à-porter. An eclectic creator, he has even composed some of the music for Lanvin’s runway shows.
&Quad;2001. Morlotti left Lanvin menswear, having ceased to work on their womenswear collections six years earlier. He continued to work independently. The eclectic designer composed soundtracks for his own runway shows. He also worked on costumes for the film 3/O with Gérard Lanvin and Samuel le Bihan.
&Quad;2003, June. He deserted the Paris runways for the Spring-Summer 2004 shows, opting instead, like many of his colleagues, for a private show.
