It was founded in 1870 by Josef Beikircher who shortly afterwards became a partner with the Viennese Josef Moessmer. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it had 40 employees. During the 1930s, production totaled 60 thousand meters of fabric per year. There were three key men in the history of the firm: from the end of World War I, the director and co-proprietor Franz Luis Walter; from 1947, the director Hermann Larisch, and finally, the CEO Anton Walker, who directed the wool factory from 1984, once it had become a public company. Moessmer employed 160 people, produced about 850 thousand meters of textile per year, and owned 4 stores in Brunico, Bolzano, Cortina, and Ortisei.
