Miller

Lee (1970-1977). American photographer, born in New York. She studied drama in Paris, became a model for great photographers and moved to Florence, where she studied art. She was the favorite model, assistant and muse to Man Ray. In 1931 she published her first fashion shoot in Vogue, featuring sports clothes. The following year she left Man Ray and returned to New York. She began traveling again and moved to Egypt with her second husband. Afterwards she returned to Europe with the photographer Roland Penrose, whom she later married. She continued to be part of the international artistic community and, alongside her photographic research, she carried on working for Vogue. As well as her fashion shoots for the magazine, she contributed reportage features and real photographic stories. Her activities as a photographer and chronicler continued in collaboration with her husband Penrose (who was awarded a knighthood in 1966) until her death.
