Matsuda

Misuhiro (1934). Japanese designer, whose label is called Nicole, a name chosen as a tribute to a French model. He has the ability to marry the purity of Oriental minimalism with Western decoration. Born in Tokyo, he studied at the University of Waseda and in 1964 took a diploma at the local fashion institute, Bunka College. After spending six months in Paris to perfect his knowledge, he opened his own firm in Tokyo in 1967. It met with great success, to such an extent that during the 1970s it continued to create new lines and open boutiques for men and women all over Japan. In the 1980s the Matsuda label was launched on foreign markets. Matsuda, whose headquarters are located in the Shibuya district, is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of Tokyo. He designed the costumes for Baldios, a Japanese cartoon that had little success in Europe.
