Marco Bizzarri (born in 1962) is an Italian business executive

Marco Bizzarri is an Italian company executive, CEO of Gucci since 2015, born on the 19th of August 1962 in Reggio Emilia.

Biography

Marco Bizzarri began his career as a consultant at Accenture. Subsequently, from 1993 to 2004 he held various roles in the Mandarina Duck group, of which he was also General Manager, and then held the same role in Marithé & François Gibaud in Paris. In 2005 he joined the Kering group, for which he held the role of President and CEO of Stella McCartney.

Kering’s path

After Stella McCartney, the manager arrived at Bottega Veneta, where he held the role of President and CEO from 2009 to 2014. He was CEO of Kering’s Couture & Leather Goods division, before joining Gucci in 2015, assuming the role of President and CEO.

Gucci Renaissance 

The first decision as CEO of the Florentine brand is the appointment of Alessandro Michele as the new creative director. Notably, the designer had already been part of the Gucci team for 12 years, working alongside Tom Ford and Frida Giannini. 

Gucci underwent a real renaissance, under his creative imprint aided by Bizzarri’s visionary strategies. The brand’s new face is based on a careful analysis of the market and contemporary trends, declined through cross-gendered collections and practices aimed at sustainability.

Awards and honours 

The awards and honours received include the United Nations Humanitarian of The Year award in 2015. 

In 2017 he received the Edward Nardoza award for his creative leadership as CEO. Moreover in the same year he entered the Order of the Legion of Honor receiving the rank of Knight from the President of the French Republic. 

For three consecutive years, from 2016 to 2018, the CEO won at the Fashion Awards for the Business Leader category. In 2020 he entered the GQ category of the 30 Best Dressed Men.
