Ludwig Reiter

Austrian shoe factory founded in 1885. Shortly after being opened by Reiter, his workshop received the order to manufacture the boots for the imperial police of Vienna. Reiter’s son, also called Ludwig, opened the company’s first factory, where the brands Fox and Piccadilly were made. These boots were given a special and more resistant sole invented by Charles Goodyear. In the mid-1990s, an expressly retro line was created with the launch of Cricket, a shoe similar to the model adopted by the Austrian army in the 1970s, but more comfortable. 2003 saw the launch of the Anna Reiter shoe for women; this is a flat shoe with an extremely soft sole made with horse hair. Another original design was the Tiger Sandal. The company is now run by the family’s fourth generation.
