Lucchesi

Florentine tailor. Its premises were in Via dell’Oriolo. In the early 1900s, it was one of the most prestigious tailor’s workshops in Florence. It was founded by Gioacchino Lucchesi in 1830 though no official document states his activity. But it seems that the artisan’s dynasty dates back to 1600 and has its roots in the town of Lucca. His son Gustavo, and Gustavo’s heir Felice served Florence’s aristocracy and upper middle classes. And the fourth generation, represented by Marino Lucchesi, continued the old profession, selling to important clients like Luigi Dalla Piccola and Luciano Berio, who visited Florence during the Music Festival in May. The workshop closed in 1987.
