Leo

Van (1921-2002). Real name Boyadijan Turkish, Van Leo was a photographer of Armenian origin who became a naturalized Egyptian. He arrived in Egypt with his family in 1924 and in 1927 moved to Cairo where he became a great portrait photographer in his studio in Avenue Fouad. Over 57 years of work, he photographed thousands of people, using a style reminiscent of the one used to portray Hollywood stars. For this reason, he is considered to have been one of the masters of “glamour” photography.
