Leiber

Judith (1921). American designer. She established the leather goods and accessories’ brand carrying her name. Born in Budapest, Judith Peto (who married Gerson Leiber in 1946) received her training in the Hungarian Bag Association. In 1947 she moved to the United States where she earned her living designing for the manufacturers on Seventh Avenue. In 1963 she decided to start her own business. Her day and night bags, hand-cut and sewn with meticulous craftsmanship, and manufactured in crocodile, silk and metal, and often studded with precious stones, have been very successful and are collectors’ items.
