Lafaurie

Jeanne, baroness Loppin de Gémaux (1897). French designer. She made her début in 1925. Her career suffered frequent highs and lows: in the 1950s she enjoyed her greatest success (Courrèges was the designer) but also her first defeat, when she was declared bankrupt in 1954. She bounced back into business through a company formed by her richest and most faithful clientele, and entrusted the collection’s design to Michel Goma. She retired in the 1960s.
