La Bottega di Brunella

Italian brand of clothing. Established in 1965 in Positano by Vito (designer) and his wife Brunella (dressmaker). They started out with careful research into fabrics which they created on special Neapolitan looms, and used to manufacture the first garments. Almost 40 years later, the company has maintained its craftmen’s charm and family management, which now includes the three children: Cristina is in the general manager, Annamaria is in administration, and Antonio follows production. The womenswear is now accompanied by a men’s and a children’s line. The tailoring style is based on continual research into materials and fabrics: from the cotton gauze for light Summer and neo-romantic dresses to the hand-embroidered delavé jeans, from bemberg for a little retro Thirties-style pieces to the black-and-white optical number, to the stretch jersey and bi-elastic Lycra. And, above all, linen, matched with chenille or wool, also used in ethnic-style accessories (bags, shoes, belts, and scarves), combined with leather and cork, straw or wood. The Spring-Summer 2003 collection follows the rules of the season, interpreting them with extreme originality. Ethnic models inspired by the magic of the Orient and Indian atmospheres, long dresses-cum-caftans made from cuprum and silk, light baggy pants, and soft swaying chiffon garments in warm, sunny colors, from orange to bright yellow to tobacco brown.
