Kirkland

Douglas (1935). Canadian photographer. In 1956 he was Irving Penn’s assistant in New York, the city where he got his professional education and which he left in the 1970s to move to Los Angeles. In 1960 he was hired by Look magazine and started portraying the stars of cinema and fashion. He became world famous for his shots of Marilyn Monroe wrapped in her bed sheets, which he completely recreated in the studio. For Life he made several reportages around the world. He was set photographer for movies such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Out Of Africa, and Titanic.
