Kim

Cristina Kim. Korean designer. She was raised in the United States but she works between Los Angeles, London, Milan, and New York. She designs for the brand Dosa. She often draws inspiration from art. A shawl she created reproduces the thoughts of Cy Twombly. “My work,” she says, “starts from materials, fabrics, from the knowledge of their origins and history.” She explains her minimalism, taking inspiration from the Buddhist concept of purity. She has turned her back on holding shows because she does not like to “throw my creations in people’s faces.” In partnership with the designer Pippa Smail, she designed jewelry and showed them in December 2002 at the Nine Dering Street Gallery in London, of which she has become curator.
