Imta Desii Mode

Italian wool factory. Its headquarters are in Montemurlo, near Prato. Established in 1950 to manufacture blankets and plaids. For its first 15 years it was a medium-sized factory managed by two business partners. In 1965 a third partner joined the factory, Renzo Desii, who was strong in management experience in Prato’s industries. His entry marked the beginning of a speedy growth in the quantity of production. In 1981, Desii’s son, Luca, substituted one of the partners from outside of the family. This was the time of rational organization and management readjustment. The company’s quotas were shared between Gualtiero Gualchierani, his son-in-law Renzo Desii, and Luca. Luca Desii later became (and is still today) the owner of the firm with his sisters Annalisa and Cristina. Through the years, the differentiation of typologies and the growth towards increasingly new markets have led to company towards global production of textiles for clothing, with a particular attention for luxury export. The raw material is cashmere. Germany and Japan are the most profitable markets for the firm. The company often promotes charities and sponsors the restoration of art.
