Gruppo Zegna Baruffa

A famous name worldwide whose origins are deeply rooted in the Biella area, by now a secular tradition. The great turning point occurred in 1974 when Giorgio and Giulio Zegna Baruffa created Zblb, incorporating the prestigious Lane Borgosesia established in 1850. In the 1980s, the product symbolic of the company is called Cashwool, a very pure wool as soft as cashmere and as shiny as silk. There isn’t a knitwear factory that has not heard of the group and every spinning mill tries to imitate its yarns. Expansion occurred in 1990, according to a precise strategy of producing fantasy and classic yarns for outer knitwear. Research and innovation continue to characterize the Collections. A new course of business started during the 2000-2001 season with the introduction of three different lines (Baruffa, B Active, and B Exclusive) and direct branch offices in Hong Kong, New York, and Tokyo. In the latter part of the 20th century, production was around 10 million kilograms, using about 90% of extra-fine merino wools and, for the remaining part, noble fibers. The export quota touched 60%. Zblb is a family company guided using managerial criteria. It has seven productive plants.
