Steve Fabrikant (1954) is a Brazilian fashion designer. At the age of 14, he moved with his whole family to New York. He studied architecture in London, but ended up working for seven years in the family’s packaging factory. Fabrikant Knitting is his first passion and it is in this fashion industry that he became famous. He began his activity as a knitwear designer in 1984 and managed in a few years to sell in department stores. In its Steve Fabrikant Collections and Signature Lines, it combines wool and lycra, wool and leather, aiming for a modern look. It is instead classic, traditional in the cashmere collection. The Brazilian designer launches a website and an e-brochure. Customers are thus able to order his renowned knitwear online as well. The increase in web presence connects the company to customers whose dedication to the brand has kept it in constant business since 1984.Steve is one of the few designers who has kept up with the challenge of changing demographics, changing retail staff, and changing economies. Fabrikant’s foray into Japan with distributor and licensee Mitsubishi Japan led to the company’s first independent boutique (Tokyo), just as the Japanese economy underwent huge sea changes. Today Steve Fabrikant is proudly produced exclusively in New York. READ ALSO: Brooks Brothers Abboud, Joseph
