D’Ys

Julien (1955). French artist and hairdresser. He doesn’t like to be called a hairdresser. But his début and the success that followed were the result of his experience in the boutiques of Harlow and Jean-Louis David. In the late 1970s, critics praised the hairstyles he made for Chanel, Comme des Garµons, Galliano, Gigli, Lang, Montana, and Yamamoto. He hasn’t created a new hairstyle for a very long time. Instead, he creates sculpture, placing the strangest materials on the head. He paints, sculpts, and photographs, often together with directors, costume designers, and theater choreographers. He lives in Paris and New York.
