Domus Academy

Center for post-university study established in 1983 in Milan by a group of professionals, among them the designer Gianfranco Ferré. It is dedicated to professional education, industrial research, and the promotion of cultural activities. It offers a masters in Fashion Design, with a course of study structured as group research. Among the teachers are the entire staff at Moschino, the designer Stephan Janson, the journalists Renata Molho, Titti Matteoni, Aldo Premoli, and Donata Sartorio, the designers Daniela Pupa, and Nancy Martin (for fabrics), and Ampelio Bucci (for marketing). The work is focused on projects covering the various aspects of fashion, from the culture of design to industrial management. Among the other activities of the Domus Academy are the Research Center, for professional research in the field of design; a publishing program; the organization of exhibits, such as the one dedicated to Italian Fashion in 1988 in New York; the Domus Design Agency, which since 1991 has provided design projects to various companies; and the Future Fashion Lab, a permanent research laboratory which produces a quarterly abstract of stylistic trends, consumer tastes, and clothing culture for various clients. In 1995, Domus Academy won the Golden Compass for its activities.
