Dinh Van Jean

Brand of jewellery named after its French-Vietnamese designer. He started his own business in 1965 after a long apprenticeship in the Cartier workshops in Paris. It wasn’t a quiet début. He was so successful that Cartier New York wanted him on its staff to create a jewellery line with his own name. He worked for Cardin. In 1976, he opened his first shop on Rue de la Paix in Paris. Perhaps his most celebrated creation is Pi, a gold disk with a hole in the center. It is worn around the neck with a leather string.
