Dell’Oglio

Men’s wear boutique in Palermo. It was opened in 1900 on via Maqueda, near Palazzo Mazarino, by Mario Dell’Oglio, the son of Santi, who in 1890 had founded the Grandi Magazzini del Telegrafo, the most elegant emporium in town. Mario was succeeded by Vincenzo who, in 1957, moved the business to via Ruggero Settimo, where it is still located and where, in 1972, a line of women’s wear was launched. At the 100th birthday celebration, in 1990, the family company opened a second boutique on via Parisi. In their archives, the Dell’Oglios keep a card file of the measurements and shapes for the custom-made hats of one hundred clients, beginning with Ignazio and Vincenzo Florio, the last representatives of the celebrated entrepreneurial Palermo dynasty.
