De Simone

Livio De Simone (1920-1995) was a designer from Naples. He had his maximum success in the golden period of the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in the mid 1960s, remaining faithful to it also in the 1970s, as an imaginative exponent of that boutique fashion which, emphasizing the beauty of fabrics, an enjoyment of shapes, and an explosive capacity for self-renewal, was the flagship of Italian fashion and would become the real basis for the upcoming ready-to-wear luxury styles. Very characteristic was his palette of radiant and intense colors, which, through his silks, made the Mediterranean motifs shine. The designer also made unexpected incursions into a “wax” black that was offset, though, by a daring line that was incurably free and lively.

Faithful to her husband’s style, she maintains a continuous search for colors and materials, and has also designed an accessories line (bags, shoulder bags, and haversacks) of her own.
