Curiel Castellini

Gigliola (1970). She carries the demanding name of her grandmother, who disappeared a year before her birth, and is very much like her mother Lella. In 1997, after graduating in economics from Bocconi University in Milan, she followed in her mother’s footsteps as a designer with the griffe Gigi by Curiel (using her nickname). Her first Collection, presented in London, where she attended the Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design, met with great interest from American buyers. In the following seasons, she confirmed her style: pure lines and great richness of materials, patterns, and colors. Up until her graduation, she had been convinced that her place in the world of fashion was in the role of manager and not of designer.
