Culottes

Short pants, or actually a divided skirt, loose-fitting, and comfortable, wide up through the waist. Made of pure silk, they were worn in the 1930s by the most refined women of the time, and since then they have always been in fashion. At the time of the Sun King, on the other hand, culottes were breeches for men at court that went to the knees and were worn with thin silk socks. They would remain unchanged, more or less long and tight, until the early 1800s, when they were replaced by trousers.
