Cole-Haan

American brand of shoes. During the 1970s, the Cole-Haan hand-sewn loafer was a must for preppy fashion, along with button-down Oxford shirts, a blue blazer, and khaki pants. Eddie Haan and Trafton Cole founded the brand in Chicago during the 1920s. In 1975 it was acquired by George Denney and production was moved to Maine, where it remains. In 1982, the women’s Collection was launched, and the following year, the brand arrived in Europe. In 1988, Cole-Haan became part of the Nike Group.”
