Cividini

Brand of knitwear. It was established in 1987, the result of the creativity of Miriam and Piero Cividini and the production ability of Gioacchino Longo’s workshop. After their initial success, in 1995 they created the Cividini Collection, a prêt-à-porter line that was exported to the U.S. and Japan. Starting in 1996 the griffe has participated at Milano Collezioni. In January 1998 it presented its first men’s line. Today, there are single-brand shops in Milan, Hamburg, and Munich.
For the men’s Collection, the materials are stretch cotton, wool faille, cotton-metal canvas, creased or waterproof linen, washed poplin, cotton drill, zephyr stretch, and aniline soft leather. The colors are white, beige, black, steel grey, jade, and red ochre.
Cividini, as a visiting professor, has the chair of the Master Class in Fashion Design at the University of the Arts in Berlin (established in 1696 as the Academy of Arts and changing its name only in 2001), one of the oldest in Europe. Thirty years before, the designer had left the Polytechnic of Milan, in his first year of engineering, in order to join the world of fashion as a freelancer for Italian and foreign companies.
For Autumn-Winter 2003-2004, the Cividini men’s offerings focus especially on refined fabrics, artisanal details, and innovative workmanship. Without formalism or excess, the garments favor quality, detail, and a tailored cut that is reinterpreted in a casual way, minimized through unusual workmanship and the use of unconventional materials.
