Cimara

Luigi Cimara (1891-1962). Italian actor. He was, in life and on the stage, a master of elegance. He would wear only blue ties with white polka-dots, and had one for every day of the year, each different from the other just for the size of the dots. His double-breasted suits were an example for the dandies of the time. At the time of his début he was a member of Tina Di Lorenzo’s company. He became a headliner with the Vera Vergani company, directed by Dario Niccodemi. Along with his roles in lighthearted and bourgeois plays such as L’alba, il giorno e la notte and La nemica (by Niccodemi) he was able to give voice to avant-guard scripts such as Six Characters In Search of an Author, of which he was the first interpreter at the Teatro Valle of Rome in 1921. Later, he worked with Kiki Palmer, Laura Adani, and Paola Borboni.
