Casablanca, the brand with a sporty chic allure

Casablanca is a Parisian brand founded in 2018 by the designer Charaf Tajer. It debuted in the FW 2019-2020 season.

Charaf Tajer

Already co-founder of Pigalle (streetwear brand) and collaborator of Virgil Abloh, the young designer with a degree in architecture decided to found his own brand. He called it as the city where his parents fell in love. Self-taught, he grew up surrounded by creatives: his parents worked in the fashion world, and his grandfather was a mosaicist. He then had the fortune of living in contact with the stimulating beauty of a city like Paris. His talent was recognized and in 2020 he was selected among the finalists of the LVMH prize, cancelled due to Covid-19.

The Casablanca style

Travel is a fundamental part of the brand’s DNA, which offers a holiday style suitable for luxury resorts around the world. The goal is to illustrate beauty even to those who are not lucky enough to be able to see it, and Casablanca does so through collections with a retro flavour and aprés sport style. Fluid lines, seventies flair and sorbet colour palettes.

“The prints I create are always strongly inspired by the nature and architecture that surround us. The message behind Casablanca is to open your eyes and see how magical and beautiful the world we live in is. Sometimes it’s something we tend to forget.”

The sartorial inspiration recalls the Neapolitan style: light construction, unlined shoulders and a cut shorter than normal. Tailoring that meets with leisurewear with soft and welcoming lines. Past and future communicate in Casablanca dresses with effortless elegance.

Silk shirts and hand-painted prints are the key points of the Casablanca collections. Palms and mandarins, a riot of flowers on silks and light fabrics. Foulards, tracksuits and complete pajamas, sport is the leitmotiv of the brand.

Debut of the Women’s Line

Born as a men’s ready-to-wear brand, in July 2020 Charaf Tajer decided to propose a women’s line. The idea was born after seeing models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner wearing clothes from the men’s collection. Thus the first capsule designed for the female universe that takes inspiration from the beautiful landscapes of Lake Garda was created.
