Cardigan

Woolen jacket, without a neck and buttoned in front. It is a particularly informal garment, whose origin and name are connected to the battle of Balaklava in 1854. In particular, it is associated with the British General J. Th. Brudenel, Earl of Cardigan, who was perhaps its first enthusiast and who commanded the celebrated Charge of the Light Brigade. Very fashionable, especially in the form of a twin set (and better if a Chanel), among boarders and patronesses during the 1970s, it returns to fashion at every cyclical return of the look inspired by the Nouvelle Vague.
