Brunel

Mireille Etienne Brunel (1951) was a french designer. She captured the attention of the media for her use of very unusual materials such as the jute used for mail bags (the French ones have large red stripes) and railroad sleeper-car blankets. When, in 1979, she and her husband decided to launch the brand Etienne Brunel, which is also the name of her boutique in Lyon, she had already completed her studies at the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris. Since 1982 she has had a showroom in Paris, and in 1991 she arrived in Japan with a line created expressly for that market.
At the fifth edition of the design salon Palace d’Or, she presented some treasure-chest-clothes created with materials obtained from luxury manufacturing.
Mireille and her collaborator Rachel offer to their clientele the possibility of transforming any white dress into an evening outfit. The process of dyeing, cutting, and sewing has a cost starting at €600.
