Bouquin

Jean Bouquin (1936) was a french designer. He made his début in the world of fashion through the rear door, as a window decorator and shop assistant in men’s wear boutiques. At the age of 26, he designed clothes for the John Charles boutique and was noticed by the Renoma brothers, who hired him to manage the styles offered in their department store, which was known for its rich choice of non-French fashion. In 1964, he started his own business with a boutique in Saint Tropez for women’s prêt-à-porter which he himself designed and produced. From that moment on, his ascent would continue, with 24 shops in France. His “fuel” was the idea of offering a luxury hippie style to that segment of the French bourgeoisie which in Italy would have been defined as radical-chic. In 1971 he abandoned the business in order to devote himself to work as a theater manager, and to the rehabilitation of maladjusted young people.
