Blatt

Anny Blatt (1910) was a french dressmaker. She made her début in Mulhouse, her hometown, working in knitwear. It was knitwear, specifically tricot, that sent her off to Paris, where, in 1933, in her boutique on Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Blatt offered Collections of dresses, sweaters and beachwear that drew the attention of specialized magazines. Not even the very detailed Dictionnaire de la Mode au XXe Siècle, published by Editions du Regard 1996, indicates how long this success lasted. Eventually it ended, but by 1958 Blatt was back in business as partner in a chain of shops that distributed wool to be used in knitting her designs. Starting in 1991 her name was used by an old-fashioned French spinning mill.
