Bernard

Augusta Bernard (1886-1946). After opening an atelier in 1920 in Biarritz, her hometown, three years later she settled in Paris and became famous for her simple but well-cut women’s suits. During the 1930s she dressed the French aristocracy, and the Marquise of Paris didn’t mind posing for Vogue wearing silk pajamas created by her. That was in February 1931, four years before the house closed.
