At his 70th birthday, Elio is unanimously considered “el mas grande entre los grandes,” or the greatest among the greatest, of Spain, in the words of his colleague Juan Rufete.
He is given the task of organizing the Tribute to Manuel Pertegaz, which Spain will present the following year to the one who is considered, together with Balenciaga, a master.
