Barrett

Neil (1965). English designer. He is noticed and chosen by Gucci while studying for his master’s in fashion design at the Royal College of Art, which he pursued after graduating from the Central Saint Martin’s College of Art. Since then, from 1989 to 1993, he designed 10 men’s Collections for Gucci. In 1994, together with Patrizio Bertelli, he set up the men’s line of Prada and designed it for the following eight seasons. In 1998 he became the designer for Active Wear, a clothing brand which would make its début the following year, a product of the partnership between the industrial group Prato Lineapiù and Samsonite.
He decides to settle in Milan, where he opens a showroom in via Savona.
He launches his first men’s and women’s Collections during the Milan fashion weeks.
Eyeglasses for men with added details that make the lines softer, thanks to lightweight materials such as glasant. This is the eyewear line designed by Barrett that was presented at the subdued Moda Milano Donna which followed the events of September 11th.
The first result of his collaboration with Puma: a tennis shoe without laces made of canvas in combination with new and aged leather.
The designer is appointed creative director of the new Puma Collections.
He designs the uniform of the Italian national soccer team for the 2004 European Championship.
