Alexandre

(1922). French hairdresser. When very young, as assistant to the famous Antoine in Cannes, he did the hair of Begum, wife of the Aga Khan, and of the Duchess of Windsor. This was enough to give him notoriety and in 1947 Antoine appointed him director of his Paris salon. Divas and members of the jet set placed their heads in his hands. Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, relied only on him for 25 years. Elisabeth Taylor called him to Hollywood for a permanent. In 1952 he associated himself with the Carita sisters. He started his solo career rather late, at age 35, opening his own salon first in Faubourg Saint-Honorék and then in avenue Matignon. Countless hairdos by him have been seen on runways.
