ACCESSORIZE, ENGLISH BRAND OF COSTUME JEWELERY AND ACCESSORIES

Accessorize is an English low cost brand of costume jewelery and accessories, founded by Peter Simon. After a revealing trip to Asia, Peter Simon, inspired and full of new energies, decided to bring some color to Europe. This is how the first Monsoon boutique was created, which marketed bohemian dresses made with artisanal techniques and vegetable dyes in the distant villages of India.

But motifs, artisan techniques and colour also become the hallmark of Accessorize, the brand that debuted in 1983, with its first store in Convent Garden in London. It quickly became an exclusive destination. Where to find particular accessories that still maintained that dreamy and exotic allure that Peter Simon had absorbed from Asia. Creating accessible exotic, this is the declared goal of the Accessorize brand.

The brand has always been careful towards the conditions of the workers who make accessories for the brand, imposing a particular code of conduct on producers. The Monsoon Accessorize Code of Conduct, which establishes minimum requirements in terms of working conditions, pay and rights. In addition to the numerous charitable initiatives, carried out by the foundation created in 1994, the brand also promotes green fashion.

THE CRISIS AND THE CLOSURE OF STORES

Accessorize was overwhelmed by the crisis caused by the pandemic, and so in 2020 the company was put into administrative receivership. The following year, in 2021, Accessorize Italia submitted a request for closure agreement of creditors to the Court of Milan, and announced the closure of twenty-five stores in Italy.
