Wakeley, Amanda
Amanda Wakeley, born in 1962, is an English fashion designer. The Financial Times called her “the British answer to Donna Karan.” After working as a model in America, she opened a haute couture atelier in London in 1990. Starting in 1992 she routinely wins awards for her creativity. From her very special London store, she follows the Women’s and Bridal lines.
Since 1998 she has also been a consultant for Principles, Vermilion Corporatewear and Playmates Toys. She has twice been awarded the British Fashion Award for Glamour. At the beginning of the new century, Amanda Wakeley opened a website entirely dedicated to bridal wear www.amandawakeleysposa.com. In 2003 she has bridal stores in 11 British cities. In London there are three: in Knightsbridge, in Berner Street and in Fullham Road.
