Vuarnet

French brand of eyewear. It takes its name from the French Olympic champion skier, Jean Vuarnet, who won the gold medal in downhill freestyle in 1960 in Squaw Valley (USA). He used a pair of Skilynx lenses, patented by the Parisian optician Robert Pouilloux to protect himself against the glare and joined in the business. At first, things moved slowly: 200 pair of glasses. Thirty years later, 1.5 million have been sold and the turnover allowed the company to expand its manufacturing realm: apparel for sports, cosmetics for tanning, and watches.
