Umberto Severi: Brand and Name of the founder of the Tesam Group

Umberto Severi is the protagonist of the prestigious and perhaps most singular entrepreneurial history of the knitwear district of Carpi. From being the largest clothing exporter, in the 1970s the group became the largest importer. This happened thanks to the first Italian joint ventures with nascent groups in the Far and Middle East and Mauritius.

A total of 12 companies – including spinning, dyeing, knitting and service companies – with over 2000 employees. But also a stylistic research team, a laboratory study of fashion trends, a careful and constant technological innovation of production. This company, which has developed over the last thirty years or so, has also become the jewel in the crown of Carpi’s multi-faceted entrepreneurship, thanks above all to the personality of Umberto Severi. A brilliant industrialist but also a passionate art collector. With works from the 15th to the 20th century, statues by Pomodoro or crystal by Lalique, under the banner of the Severi Foundation.
