Teller

Jurgen (1964). German photographer. He studied at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt Photographie in Munich (now the State Academy for Photography and Design) from 1984 to 1986. He collaborated with numerous magazines including i-D, Arena, The Face, Homme Plus, Dazed & Confused, Details, Art Forum, Vibe, Stern, AbeSea, Index, W Magazine, Interview and the English, French, Italian, and American editions of Vogue. He worked for clients such as Miu Miu, Comme des Garµons, Katherine Hamnett, Calvin Klein, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Anna Molinari, Hugo Boss, and Louis Vuitton. He is considered to be the first figure in a new wave in photography as a result of his way of doing direct portraits with a cold, raw light. He also worked in the musical field with covers for Bjork, Dave Stewart, Elastica, Elton John, Simply Red, Sinead O’Connor. Pitti Immagine Discover organized a personal show of his work in the Summer of 1998. He published the books Jurgen Teller by Jurgen Teller (1999) and Go See (2000), where he did portraits of non-professional models as they crossed the threshold of his studio. He has done personal shows in Tokyo, London, and Florence. He lives and works in London.
