Tartan

What the business card or the family coat-of-arms is for us, tartan is for the Scots. The use of tartan dates back to the traditions of the Middle Ages. Every clan, every family possesses a tartan of its own and, despite the deceptive appearance, each one is slightly, but absolutely different from all the others. After the Second World War, skirts and kilts became very popular. In the 1980s, a number of fashion designers featured tartan trousers and a number of Winters Collections focused on the distinctive and traditional tartan structure.
