Sutor Mantellassi
Artisan firm making shoes: sutor is Latin for shoemaker. Mantelassi is the surname of brothers Ettore and Enea, who were shoemakers in Florence. The company was founded in 1912 and it has remained in the family ever since. Today it is run by the new generations of Mantelassi who remain faithful to the artisan tradition. This loyalty is indicative of the house’s style, whose tour-de-force is a slightly square-shaped shoe whose origins date back to the fashions of the 17th century. This attachment to tradition can also be found in the important collection of shoes in the company archive; in addition to its own models, it holds many historical shoes from all over the world. Sutor Mantellassi has also developed a series of accessories, small leather goods, and suitcases made using the same materials and manufacturing processes as their shoes.
