Piver L.T.

French brand of perfumes and beauty products. In 1774 Pierre-Guillaume Dissey opened a small perfume shop in Rue Saint-Martin in Paris. Success came in 1813 thanks to three new scents created by Louis-Toussant Piver: Véritable Eau de Cologne, Triple Eau de Cologne, and Eau de Cologne de Princes. It was the first perfume house to use amyl salicylate in the composition of its perfumes, producing the innovative bouquets of Floramye (1903), and Pompeìa (1907). Then came two versions of Cuir de Russie (1914 and 1939) that further strengthened Piver’s reputation. The brand started to diversify its range, particularly with hair products, to counteract a moment of difficulty in the 1950s and 1960s. The company was acquired by RhÂne-Poulenc in 1979.
