Phoenix Art Museum

Arizona, USA. Recently renovated and renamed the Fashion Design Collection, it has 4,000-5,000 pieces either received from local donors, or acquired by the Arizona Costume Institute. The oldest examples date from the end of the 1700s. The curators have concentrated on documenting the work of American 20th century designers, but they also buy pieces from big European names like Balenciaga, Dior, and YSL. Within the museum, the Astaire Library of Costumes has a collection of fashion-related prints, books, and periodicals.
